Chai spiced tea complements the sweet, mellow bananas in this cool, exotic smoothie. Tip: Use frozen bananas for a thicker, frostier smoothie.

Serves 1.

Prep Time: 8 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 chai teabag
  • 1/2 cup milk or soy milk
  • 1 frozen or fresh banana, cut into chunks
  • Pinch of cinnamon
  • Pinch of ground ginger
  • 2 to 3 ice cubes

Preparation:

Bring the water to a boil in a small saucepan. Add the teabag, turn off the heat, and steep for 3 to 5 minutes, until the tea is strongly brewed. Squeeze out the teabag and discard it.

Pour the brewed tea into a blender, and add the milk, bananas, and spices. Puree until smooth. Add the ice cubes and blend just until the ice is crushed. Pour into a glass, sprinkle with additional cinnamon or ginger if desired, and enjoy!
